Seen on an unidentified leaf in a very wet water meadow, beside a drainage ditch. Field full of developing umbilifers and other wild flowers/grasses. Deciduous woodland and a river close by.

My very limited text book suggests Lonchaeidae, but I don`t have a clue.

Assuming this photo was taken in England, I'd file it under blowflies (Calliphoridae).

I thought that blowflies were ugly things. This one looks far too attractive to have such unsavoury habits Smile

Tried to attach an image to a forum post. jpg, 32kB, 72dpi, no blanks, ... File name is correctly displayed, but when I click "Preview Thread" it just vanishes. Help!
