males and females visited flowers of Epipactis in a forest near Marburg on 2014-08-03. Is Ochlerotatus (Finlaya) geniculatus the correct name of this species? Thank you Tony. So I think Dahliana geniculata should be the correct name of the species. Regards, Ingo

Yes, although it is not universally accepted yet, Dahliana geniculata is the name that I think will be used for this species. Phylogenetic analysis has demonstrated that Aedes s.l. can be divided into recognisable monophyletic genera. Hopefully this will stabilise the nomenclature, and ensure that we're all using the same names for mosquitoes in the future.
