Hello everybody! Today I found this little fly in my samplings. I was wondering if it could be a cryptochetidae ? If it is, could anyone help with further identification please? It was captured in mango orchard, in Reunion Island! Thanks in advance! Biophyto attached the following image: [132.09Kb] Edited by Biophyto on 24-07-2014 12:28 |

Yes, this is Cryptochetidae, a Cryptochetum sp.. Nowadays they are used as biological control of scale insects (like Icerya sp.), so they are transported to all kind of different places in the world. Greetings, Gerard Pennards |
