Found sitting on a wall by atlantic forest in Gijón, Asturias, N Spain on 25.06.2014. Any ideas?? Thanks for whatever help!

John, thank you very much!! It seems there is only one species cited for Spain!! Any chance this fly is Planetella arenariae?? |

24 species are known from western Europe (Germany, Austria, and Italy and countries to the west). I do not know if the species are distinguishable, and if they are what characters would disinguish them. The genus was revised in 1938: Edwards, F.W. 1938b. On the genus Planetella Westwood and its relatives (Diptera, Cecidomyiidae). Encyclopédie Entomologique. Série B. Mémoires et Notes. II. Diptera 9: 53-57. |
