Member Location: Le Havre, France Posts: 8248 Joined: 03.03.07	Thank you, but it doesn't bring further informations ; the anterior spiracle is not visible, so I can't see whether it is orange or not, and the number of post ia is hard to see. However, the moderate prac, the convex scutum and pale calypters should be enough to separate this species from Protocalliphora and Protophormia. So, I'm convinced it is Phormia regina, but I can't prove it. Stephane.

Member Location: Eindhoven Netherlands Posts: 388 Joined: 06.12.07	Thank you. Next time, if I am lucky, I will try to take a picture which shows the spiracle. I cannot remember why I decided to take a picture of this fly. Most of the time I avoid blue and green metallic flies.

Member Location: Eindhoven Netherlands Posts: 388 Joined: 06.12.07	I compared the distance between the eyes for the three species, Protophormia terraenovae, Protocalliphora azurea and Phormia regina. It seems that the distance is larger for the two first species. I do not know if there are other look-alike species in Belgium.
