Hallo, allerseits! Is it possible to distinguish between the species after these photos? Taken yesterday in Ostwestfalen/Germany. Thanks in advance! It's definitely NOT nudifrons and I very much doubt whether this is rotundatum. dolycoridis or clavatum seem more likely. Theo |

Hello, Theo! Zeegers wrote: dolycoridis or clavatum seem more likely. One additional question: does the name dolycoridis indicate, that it parasitizes Dolycoris baccarum? That would fit very well! We had a mass invasion of these Pentatomidae here in April, they swarmed like bees on the meadows. The species is never rare here, but I had never seen such an accumulation. It has been said many times, Gymnosoma are very pretty but very hard to ID from pictures. Dolycoridis does indeed refer to Dolycoris. Whether this species is monophagous, is another question. Gymnosoma are difficult to rear, parasitazition rates are low (1 - 4 %) Theo Zeegers |
