Can anything be said of this Simuliidae? At least can genus Simulium be confirmed? Thanks in advance!! Smile

Found by a river in mixed woodland in the outskirts of madrid on 23.03.2014.

A male Simulium.

I do not know how to identify most European subgenera. The color pattern could be the ornatum group except what is visible of the gonostylus looks wrong. Compare http://www.dipter...d_id=20634.

Thanks a lot, John!! I am very happy just knowing that this is indeed genus Simulium Smile Not complaining if somebody can go further though Wink but Simulium sp. is great Smile Smile
