Are these some Diptera larvae? All found today on a wall. Sorry if I asked this in a wrong place.
Can anybody help with determination? The picture is taken in Serbia.
Thanks!

Syrphidae larvae and I think they may belong to Eupeodes sp.

One larva pupated and now I have a fly. Is it now possible to determine species?

The eyes are hairy... so this is not Eupeodes !
It could be Scaeva... perhaps this is selenitica or dignota ! But I'm not capable of differentiating both species correctly ! Smile

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
