The second edition of the identification key is available from 2010 on from the KNNV uitgeverij . I have added species that were newly recorded in NW-Europe and repaired all mistakes and awkward points in the keys. Most have have been reported on my website also.

I hope these changes bring the keys in good shape again, to let them stay the most comprehensive identification source for Syrphidae in NW-Europe. Depressing was the misprint of the Spilomyia figure. I have the impression the publisher did nothing to repair it, although they promised a rectification.

I wonder if there are attempts to make keys for the European mountains and the southern (mediterranean) parts. A lot of work is done in Spain and Serbia. And is there still action on a german key?
