First time on here so please forgive any errors in etiquette This was photographed on April 26th basking on a common sorrel leaf in a nature reserve in Hertfordshire, England. It is in an open meadow near water. I can't find it any of my reference books. Its about 10-15mm long. As far as I am aware there are no cattle present. Yep, probably oversized it. I see everything through a macro lens unfortunately. Many thanks for the pointer. Have ID'd this as an Onion Fly (Delia antiqua)
