Hi,
Does anybody know what this is?
I often see these on top of straw bales in the morning.
I take the photo on 6 November 2013 Kokkola, Finland.

Trichoceridae
While others can't climb, using infinite pains,
I, gravity turning to jest,
Ascend, with all ease, perpendicular planes,
Rough or smooth, just as pleases me best.

This Trichocera female looks like T.lutea or T.inexplorata, but it is hard to be sure without inspecting the inner parts of genitalia...
If you by any chance have more Trichoceridae and could send me the specimens, I would gladly identify those for you Smile

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
