On bugguide.com this 'drop' was identified as an egg mass of Chironomidae.

Could anyway confirm this and possibly give a further specification?

Suriname, Paramaribo. V-2011. Hanging on garage door (opening from shallow rainwater puddle) in suburban area.

Thanks in advance,

Scarabaeoid

I have a small book about egg masses of Chironomidae but no experience using it. Almost all the taxa described are north temperate; the book combines field work in Germany with a literature survey. If the family is right, this should be Tanypodinae or Chironomini. Both include species that lay eggs in double spirals in a cylinder. Psectrotanypus varius was observed to lay eggs in a similar habitat, "temporary pond, attached to wood just below the water surface."
