Hello! Not sure without seeing the fore tarsi. Could be Eristalis pertinax or interrupta. The latter has dark tarsi and is smaller. Best regards, Jürgen -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Juergen Peters Borgholzhausen, Germany WWW: http://insektenfo... -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= |

This is certainly pertinax. In addition to the overall appearance the long pterostigma is well visible. Therefore it cannot be interrupta. But Eristalis similis (= pratorum) is very similar to pertinax and can be separated best by the colour of the fore tarsi (pertinax entirely yellow, similis black). Regards, Dieter |
