Dear Diptera Experts, I have found these larvae in big numbers in the seed beds of beechnuts (Fagus sylvatica) in Northern Germany on June 20th 2013. The seeds are from 2011 and do not sprout well anyway. The larvae are feeding in the beechnuts. Their size is about 5-9 mm. I thought the larvae could belong to Delia coarctata, but don't these only feed on grasses? Thank you for your help! Britzie Britzie attached the following image: [191.84Kb] |
