Certainly Drosophila (s.l.). I think I can see four rows of acrostical setulae, which meansthat I think it is Lordiphosa sp or Scaptomyza sp.

It feels much more like Lordiphosa sp to me - in which case maybe Lordiphosa acuminata (I've never seen this), based on the very pale abdomen and the dark palpus. However, the paleness may be because it's recently eclosed, and I can't see the palpi properly!

One possible problem is that it looks like the anterior sternopleural bristle is missing - unless it is just extremely short. If it is extremely short, then certainly Lordiphosa sp rather than Scaptomyza sp

- Do you have any more photos?Especially face (for palpus and aristae) and thorax from above (for rows of acrostical setulae) and side (sternopleural bristles)

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
