Hi,
Recently I watched this Tachypeza on a house wall. I often see T. nubila, but this one looks different - darker wings, no swollen fore tibiae. Is sexual dimorphism seen in T. nubila, or is this another species? In Berlin, also T. fuscipennis is recorded, and T. truncorum might be found, too.
Thanks for help, Sundew

Tachydromia, one of the species that does not have sepated bands on the wings.

If even you are at odds with my fly, how can I poor botanist know... Pfft
So we end at "Tachypeza non nubila", right? I have not seen T. fuscipennis and T. truncorum yet, so can they both be excluded? A "cf." would be fine! Igor, please...

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
