Hello Diptera forum,
some days ago (19.05.2013) I found a dipteran, which to a certain degree resembled a grasshopper as well as in its morphology as in its movements jumping from one blade of grass to another. The habitat was an abandoned olive tree orchard with dense grass and herb vegetation.
I checked the diptera gallery, but to no avail.
Can anybody give me a hint where to search?
Thanks in advance and best regards
Jochen

Hello Ruud,
thank you very much. I'm glad to have this beautiful fly identified in my Provence photo collection.
Best regards

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
