Hello!

These big Tipulids (although somewhat smaller than T. oleracea) were swarming two days ago in large numbers near a little pond on a meadow (Ostwestfalen/Germany). Is it Tipula vernalis?

The overall impression of this species suggested to me some species in the Tipula (Yamatotipula) group, maybe close to Tipula lateralis? But it is just a guess.

Thanks! This is in any case the earliest larger Tipula I've ever seen here.
Best regards,
Jürgen
