Panorpidae_Panorpa alpina(male) is the correct name? Region Malá Fatra Terchová about 500 m altitude. Thank you very much for your help. I made a photo of 26.06.2012.

Sorry to kick up this old thread - just stumbled on it through a websearch for images...

This is not alpina. The "spoilers" on the last abdominal segments make it one of the species in the cognata-group. To my knwoledge Panorpa cognata would be the most likely candidate in the region but it looks a bit "odd" to me (very dark and short body!) and even cognata is not listed for Slovakia by Fauna Europae.

Did you keep the specimen?
