Hello,

This one was mining some Helianthus leaf :

(length 1.5 mm - June 2004 - Saint Apollinaire (21), France)

Here is what the pupa looks like :

And finally, the imago, 10 days after the mining larva :

(length 1.5 mm, wings excluded)

Does anyone know its name ?
Thanks !

A quick check in the books leads to Phytomyza atricornis but if I remember well, that really covered two species. I will dig a little deeper and get back to you.

Hi once again,

I got some difficulties to find P. atricornis in Fauna Europaea...
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but actual name should be Chromatomyia horticola (Goureau 1851) ? Do you confirm ?

Keep prodding me. I may have some time tomorrow evening to dig this one up.

The fly certainly looks like Chromatomyia horticola - the lack of acrostichal setae is a good clue.
