Tricimba ?cincta (Meigen, 1830), Chloropidae, the most abundant European species in the genus. Sure identification is possible only after the male genitalia. T. cincta is variable, partly the tip and hind edge of the scutellum is yellowish. One lateral of the three impressed grooves on the scutum identify it as a Tricimba, but be careful, Conioscinella frontella and other congeneric spp. with a similar habitus also possess two slightly impressed grooves.

Hello von Tschirnhaus,

Thank you for your reaction and explanation to this topic.
Altough your explanation is impressive, very detailed and clear, to me it still is difficult to find the differences.
So, I'm happy that you may confirm it!

Regards,
Hedy

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
