Hi,

I found this interesting looking fly on sunday, not one i can remember seeing before.
Rough guess 15mm,found in north Cornwall in a sunny woodland clearing, with ancient mixed and connifer plantation on either side, sat on long grass with a river nearby.
As usual when i need to post here,i could only guess at the family ..mouthparts dont seem right, but Asilidae maybe ? I dont have a clue reallySmile

thankyou.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
