This one came to my light installation. Anybody a thought on its ID?

Suriname, Para, Zanderij (along edge of secondary savanna forest), XI-2012

Unfortunately not. Photographing flies is just a side dish for me.

If you would be able to secure a collecting permit from the Surinamese government (I can tell you were to apply for it) which includes me as a collector, I would be able to get you most of the flies that get to my light installation (and possibly some more from other substrates). But then again, I would have to send them dry or in alcohol, but without pinning.

Best regards,

Scarabaeoid

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
