Today (sunday 11 march 2007) I noticed a sepsid fly feeding on Coltsfoot Tussilago farfara. It was small, but much bigger than all other sepsid flies. Moreover, it was distinctly reddish, and a bit ant-like. Is there any hope of coming closer than just 'Sepsidae'? I attach several photo's to show various details. Location: Amsterdamse Bos, The Netherlands. Habitat: rough grasland with a.o. Stinging Nettle, Creeping Thistle. Peatland. Size: small, but twice the size of the much more common all black sepsid flies. (I noticed it from some distance because of its size!)
