I am wondering if this is Sciomyzidae or Scatophagidae. Photographed today at Leerdam, Netherlands. Appr. 8 mm long. Thanks in advance for any help. Jan Zwaaneveld attached the following image: [117.26Kb] http://slamenietd...web-log.nl |

I think you are right, Jorge. I mix these families up all the time But one day I will learn. Could it be narrowed down to genus level from this single photograph or would that be a mission impossible? http://slamenietd...web-log.nl |

I'd say that most probably it is Tephrochlamys, but there is Andrzej for final judgement... Nikita Nikita Vikhrev - Zool Museum of Moscow University |

Yes ! Yes ! Yes ! . It is a Tephrochlamys speciesn , probably T. rufiventris but the ID would be more precisely by the lateral aspect ; Andrzej |
