Can it be confirmed that it is Thaumatomyia notata? Unfortunately I didn't manage to get a good (or bad ) lateral view so I guess it will remain Thaumatomyia sp. Taken in the mountains of Madrid, by a rivulet in pine woods on September the 2nd 2012. Thanks!! Piluca_Alvarez attached the following image: [137.95Kb] Edited by Piluca_Alvarez on 17-05-2013 19:40 |

If it has 2 rows of hairs along lateral margins and also height of genae below eyes not exceeding half width of 3rd segment of antennae, yeah, that is notata species. Unfortunately I can't see clear these characters into the pics.
Sincerely yours Sara |

And I am afraid it cannot be seen in the original pics, either in any other shots My best pictures of a Thaumatomyia, I just wanted to give them a try just in case something beyond Thaumatomyia sp. could be said Thanks a lot for your input, Sara |

I agree with Sara, Thaumatomyia ? notata. Compare the comments on many other diptera.info photographs of reliably identified T. notata. |
