Can anybody guide me in the right direction with this hoverfly? I find these small (approx. 4mm wing length) all-black ones a nightmare to identify! It was taken from my garden in Wolverhampton, UK, on the 17th September 2012.

After consulting my Stubbs & Falk, it appears it may actually be E. funeralis, as there seems to be a rounded tubercle near the base of the swollen hind femur, which is not present in E. strigatus.
