Hi,

Can anyone assist with an Id for this fly please ? it is very similar to my last post in which Martin kindly pointed me to Coenosia tigrina but I don't think it is the same sp. The picture was taken at the same time in the same area on 27th May 2006 in Surrey Southern England

Well the bend in vein M is very sharp, which suggests subfamily Muscinae. But at least no one doubts this is a Muscid!!

Sorry - of course, the M vein bend means it is not Phaonia - not paying attention properly.
