Looks like Calliphoridae; similar to Pollenia pediculata in the Gallery.

A very worn version of this one?

Hmm, not Sarcophaga ... as Roger says, maybe a worn calliphorid but also perhaps a Dexiine, like Estheria or Billaea?

In fact I was thinking about that one myself too Roger, I looked at that picture of Pollenia sp and wondered if it could be the same...

Well... I guess there will be no name for this one then...

I did forget to mention the size, but I think it was around 1cm. Been a little time and some other flies inbetween, so I'm not sure anymore...

Indeed Chris, it could easyli be ano of those too... Pfft I guess Diptera indet is a good name for this one too then Wink

Thanks for replies both of you...

I'd try changing the title a little to attract the other tachinid experts, just in case Smile

the abdomen definitely looks greenish, so I expect it to be a female Bellardia (thus Calliphoridae)

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
