Hi! Nice photo. Could you tell us a bit about the equipment and techniques you use? Are these photos takes in the field, or do you take the animals home and photograph them in a container? The female is feeding on a small Anthomyiid fly. Could well be genus Delia. Jere |

And the dance fly is indeed Empis, presumable E. livida.

Thank you, Kahis. 1. All images from the field. Nothing special in technique, Canon D10, lens 50/1,8 Sigma-macro, 100/2,8 Canon-macro, 70-300/5,6 Sigma-macro, sometimes flesh, sometimes additional macrorings 12 or 24mm. As a tripod I use small table (much faster than real tripod), sometimes from barehand as this pic with Empididae (one out of 15 copies is sharp enought). The only know-how - is spend an hours waiting for second... 2. Thank you for "gift" identification".
