Hello!

This 2-3 mm fly ran around the wall of our house yesterday night (Ostwestfalen/Germany). I think this must be Hybotidae. Possibly Tachypeza? Thanks in advance!

I think you are correct.
Most tachypeza species run around flat surfaces in search of prey. I guess it must have mistaken your house wall for a tree.

Thanks! There are trees around, but especially this genus seems to like walls as much as trees, whereas I find Tachydromia nearly only on bark.
Best regards,
Jürgen

Juergen, Tachypeza has ocellar triangle placed anteriorly, so does your fly.
For me it looks very much like Tachypeza nubila.
