Hi,

Can anyone Id this small fly for me please ?

My guess from the gallery was a Hybotidae, but that was only from the appearance of the head/eyes and I could not see any with the swollen hind metatarsus that this one seems to have.

The picture was taken 19th June 2006 - Southern England in my garden on a warm sunny afternoon, size was not recorded but appears small (5mm ?) from another photo showing more of the leaf but that is only a guess.

Regards Chas

Thanks Tony,

I can see some similarities now to the Beris chalybata in the gallery now that you have pointed me in the right direction.

Regards Chas
