Pegomya testacea (De Geer) is an earlier name for P. silacea. Michelsen in 2006 described a new species closely related to testacea, namely P. prisca. This occurs in Sweden, Czech Rep., and Slovakia.

The photo could be of either testacea or prisca. Detailed examination is required. What pity these specimens were not collected, because a photo is not sufficient to to validate the record which might be a new one for Switzerland. Why take the trouble to find and take a photo, which amounts to no scientific knowledge, when an actual specimen would be very interesting to specialists?

If I remember correctly was the fly from 2006, that I presented here:

larger. That is all I can say. I'm a nature lover and not able to examinate a fly
scientifically. Anyway, thank you very much for your information about the new species.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
