Head chaetotaxy. A pair of short bristles immediately behind the ocelli are not clearly visible in the picture, but are present on the animal.

Must be right looks like the specimens i caught in northern Sweden. The combination of the chaeotoxy on head and dark wings with pale spots is very characteristic. My specimens have more well defined pale spots on the wings. |

Interesting. As far as I know, this species has not been recorded from Norway before.

It is described from subarctic Sweden; it is not a surprise that it occurs in subarctic Norway as well. But it's a neat fly any way. |
