Following a correspondence with Piluca Alvarez about identifying the Spanish species of Lucilia, I have produced a quick and dirty key for the 7 species listed for Spain in FE. It's basically just a synthesis of Whitworth, Falk and Rognes, focusing on the characters that are easiest to see. The species covered are: richardsi, sericata, cuprina, silvarum, ampullacea, caesar and illustris. The two pairs that are the most difficult to distinguish, especially from photos, are sericata / cuprina and caesar / illustris. If anyone is interested in having a copy, please PM me with your email address and I will send it. Susan |
