Hello! I have no real idea into what families to put these two tiny black flies. The one on the top was about 3 mm (possibly Lauxaniidae?), the one on the last two pics slightly larger. Both came to the light yesterday in our garden (Ostwestfalen/Germany). They were moving fast continuously, so no better photos possible, sorry. ![]() ![]()

The second fly looks like typical Sphaeroceridae. The first? May be Agromyzidae? Nikita Nikita Vikhrev - Zool Museum of Moscow University |

I thought the first might be Ephydridae.

Isn't the first one Sapromyza hyalinata (Lauxaniidae)? 2-3 are clearly sphaerocerids.

Hello, Nikita, Paul and Kahis! Thanks for your comments. Three families for the first fly, but at least the one I had in mind (Lauxaniidae) is among them... :-) Kahis wrote: Isn't the first one Sapromyza hyalinata (Lauxaniidae)? 2-3 are clearly sphaerocerids. It's really difficult for me... ;-). My first fubsy "Phorids" (in Germany "hump flies") were really Sphaerocerids. The I assumed a more slender black fly to be also a Sphaerocerid - but it was a Phorid. And now this also relatively slender black fly on pics 2 and 3 turns out to be a Sphaerocerid again... :o) Best regards, Jürgen -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Juergen Peters Borgholzhausen, Germany WWW: http://insektenfo... -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= |
