Hello! My second attempt at a hover using this site... The nearest I can get to an ID on this one is Platycheirus albimanus, female. I ruled out P.manicatus because of the shape of her abdo. It's a very small hover, distinctly bronze in colour overall. I couldn't get a good shot from the side (she wouldn't let me!), but the lunules appear to be silver/grey in colour, rather than gold. The legs and face are not very clear, but... maybe the pics are good enough for an ID? What do you think? Brilliant, thanks Janet! Tim helped me ID a male of the species that I found in the back garden a while back, but not 100% as it wasn't a very good pic. That's what helped me with this one... I must tell him about this, he'll be chuffed. He's such a nice guy. TTFN, Ginks http://www.flickr...ug-hunter/ |
