Hello,

I can't find anything in the gallery with the same colouration of the abdomen, so I need some help.
I met the fly (3-4 mm) in September near a little stream in Southern Limburg.

Thanks Nikita,

It must be a good place for Argyra, because I made my only two other Argyra-pictures there too.

I agree with Argyra. In addition, both males looks like different species. 1st male has longer 3rd segment of antenna and strong macrochetae on last abdominal segment.

Thanks for confirming Igor,

I saw males of Argyra more often but it's hard to make a picture of them, they seem to be very restless.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
