Here is another one lepidopteran larva. I suppose it is of Arctiidae family. Am I right? What genus it belongs to? It has been found on the stickseed plant (Lappula sp., Boraginaceae) and it was rather usual species in the place where I conducted my field research.
Thanks advance.

Hi Sergey,

I think you are right in considering this to be an arctiid. Unfortunately I cannot help you to a species or even genus name.

I think this caterpillar belongs to sf Arctiinae. My guess would be close to Spilarctia. The caterpillars, like the adults are quite variable in this and close genera.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
