From midwest Sweden 2005-OCT-11. I think this is Bibionidae. Not sure what to expect from this one. Just a single view of this individual ...

It's a male Bibio and, given the date, there are only two options: B. clavipes and B. lepidus. If correct (I cannot see the hind femur in the pic to confirm), this clearly is Bibio lepidus Theo Zeegers |

Hi crex This would be the other one, Bibio clavipes. The stigma is less dark and it stops at vein R1, whereas in lepidus it is deep black and continues. Theo Zeegers |
