Dear All
Larvae and pupae of the aquatic stages of Ceratopogonidae are notoriously difficult to identify. I have encountered many specimens (and some of them reared), but identification to genus level remains the highest level.
For that I need some more literature than the few I got. One of these papers I need is the paper by Kettle & Lawson (1952) about Culicoides. So I anybody is willing to donate a PDF-version, please send it to me (ton.vanhaaren{at}grontmij.nl). If you have any other suggestions, please do not hesitate to send them too, either as a reference, or better still, as a PDF. I guess that nobody would have the Glukhova-books as PDF Frown? I do have the Szadziewski et al.-chapter in Nillson (1997).

KETTLE, D. S. & LAWSON, J. W. H. (1952) The early stages of British biting
midges Culicoides Latreille (Diptera: Ceratopogonidae) and allied genera.
Bulletin of Entomological Research 43, 421-467

Many thanks in advance

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
