Hi, this Chloropidae has very thick arista but the 3rd antennal segment is rounded. I can't find the family ... How does Melanochaeta look like ? June 26. 2011 Loviisa, Finland and malaise trap. Jari JariF attached the following image: [98.2Kb] Edited by JariF on 15-09-2013 08:07 |

I can take more pictures if You like Sara. I ended to Melanochaeta with Collin as arista is flattened and pubescent. Very tick in fact. Then there are only three possibilies: Melanochaeta, Gampsocera and Elachiptera and Melanochaeta is the only one with rounded third antellal joint. What kind of angles You like to have ? This is interesting, because it would be new species to Finland if it really is Melanochaeta capreolus |

After some mails and pictures and keys I believe we have Malanochaeta opaca, Duda 1932 in this picture. If so, it will be a new species to our fauna again Thank You Sara ! Jari |

Now I must make a correction. We have a new Chloropidae-book and after careful examination master Kahis gave his judgement. Even the arista looks thick indeed, this species is in fact Incertella kerteszi, not Melanochaeta opaca. Good to have everhing correct |
