From about 65 km NW of Stockholm, Sweden. Size a few mm. It was found close to water (sandy beach near lawn). There are 10 species of this genus in Sweden so I don't have much hope of an id. It looks like Saldula c-album (at heteroptera.eu), but I'm sure there are other similar species.

To identify a Saldula you should collect the specimen. Sometimes a very detailed photo can help, but studying under the microscope should be the first choice ;-) Best regards Frank

That is what I suspected, and I don't collect. Thank you Frank!

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
