I think vein R1 has bristles. Combined with the facial ridge bristles, only a few possibilities are available . It certainly isn't Germaria - arista is wrong. Maybe it isn't Tachinidae - there's a bit of a subscutellum in the first picture but it isn't strong?

Could it be Campylocheta inepta?

Thank you Jussi. I found the criteria given by the key. Difficult to photograph, the specimen is damaged because it has long been in alcohol.

Bizarre antenna. Very interesting.

It is not Germaria, neither Campylochaeta: the eyes are bare (right ?).

By the way, 100 % Tachinidae. Might be some odd Blondeliini. On the other hand, the head profile reminds me of Erythrocera, which lacks the facial bristles. So it could be something related like Elodia morio ???

Need the specimen to be more sure

Jussi should be awarded the best ID of this year.

I just got the specimen and it is, indeed, Campylochaeta inepta. That was not easy to see, since the ocellar bristles are broken off !
Wing venation is a clear clue, sorry Jussi I did overlook your suggestion before.

Yes, one of those Rondani-names I tend to correct grammatically. Which is not allowed by the taxonomic police.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
