One of the common Ichneumonini - I always put these down as Amblyteles sp. but I am probably wrong as there are a lot of very similar species and the British keys are really horrible to use One for Camille to consider, I think Manager of the UK Species Inventory in the Angela Marmont Centre for UK Biodiversity at the Natural History Museum, London. |

If Camile says that it is Ichneumon sp. then forget Amblyteles Camile is saying that it is the genus Ichneumon, not just "an ichneumon wasp"

One of our biggest problems is the state of the keys for UK Ichneumon/Amblyteles ... they are very hard to work through and so there are probably a lot of incorrect identifications out there - perhaps even the majority are wrong. It's a real pity because they are so common and so easy to find in the countryside in summer.
