No, this is a male of Lamprohiza splendidula. The males of Lampyris noctiluca can fly, too, but have no functional luminescence organs. So if you see a flying and glowing male, it is always Lamprohiza splendidula. |

Lampyris noctiluca adult males do have functional light organs. It just are like in the larval stage, 2 small light organs, but still pretty well visible (it didn´t developed differently like in adult females). Edited by firefly on 18-06-2014 18:57 |
