Hello,

is it possible to further identify this fly? The idea came up, that it could be a Lasiomma sp.
I found it resting on a wooden pole on February, 28th (Germany, Mainz). It was at the most 5mm long.

With kind regards,
Kathrin

At first sight it looks indeed Lasiomma, but i think we have here the first Egle species from this year....
Need better view to see what Egle species it could be.

Hello Joke,

I don't know, what you need to see, so I'll just add two more pictures. Unfortunately I don't have one from the side, so the "new" pictures are quite similar to the old one...Maybe it helps.

With kind regards,
Kathrin

On the last photo we can see the palps are equally long as haustellum, so most likely Egle ciliata.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
