Mycetophilidae (Fungus Gnat) probably a female Zygomyia sp. , We'd have to see the wing. Don't think its a Sceptonia as there appears to be ventral bristles on mid-tibia though they are weak for a Zygomyia. Wouldn't say it's a Mycetophila sp. but it could be M. stylata. Maybe xylo will know, Change thread name to Mycetophilinae sp. Cead Mile failte! Edited by Gnats2meetu on 26-02-2011 15:49 Bobby D JorvÃk |

Wing veins would be very useful. For excluding Sceptonia the angle and the grade of the image itself make it difficult to judge. Anyway, Sceptonia, Epicypta, Platurocypta, Zygomyia and some Mycetophila species are known to hold wings in that way. so long, xylo |
