I'm puzzled by this little hoverfly. Is it a male Meliscaeva auricollis? Or perhaps a member of a completely different genus.

Ok, I now believe with the help of some advice from a friend that it may be a Platycheirus sp. possibly peltatus or maybe manicatus.
