Tephritis conura at a guess! Wings seem to match the ones in the Gallery! |

Paul, could U please add a blow-up central portion of the picture? The fly looks to have a normal white notopleural bristle (only black in conura). It can be also a species from leontodontis group (I do not have White 1988 book at hand right now to see, what could it be exactly). Edited by Nosferatumyia on 07-12-2010 11:50 Val |

My guess is either Tephritis separata or T. mutabilis. The first has been recorded from UK (but as mixed with T. divisa). The second is known from Alps only. In any case, it is worth of collecting in numberz (perhaps the host plant too) and further studies by a specialist.
